For the past thirteen years, Jacqueline Brathwaite-West, President of J. West Design, Inc., has brought her flair for color, innate elegance and eye for detail to some of New Jersey's most beautiful homes and commerical spaces. Working in a variety of styles - from Transitional to contemporary - Jacqueline has created rooms that have delighted clients with both their perfect functionality and extraordinary beauty.
Jacqueline loves the sense of the horizon - the idea of sand blending into sea and sea blending into sky - and translates that by creating rooms that flow easily into one another. Jacqueline particularly adores rich, warm hues that give a room "punch", which has led her to the frequent use of colors.
Jacqueline's ease and expertise in all facets of the design process - from floor plan design to space planning, lighting design and furniture selection - allows her to be ready for any size job and to conquer any challenge. For example, she re-purposed a store display cabinet into a gorgeous entertainment center for a family room with a 25 foot-high ceiling, and then created a window treatment that resembled a crown of jewels to give this oversized room added drama.
Jacqueline is not only concerned with pleasing her clients' taste, but also with accommodating their budgets. She will find innovative solutions, to create beautiful environments at a very reasonable cost.
A graduate of DeVry University and a graduate of Parsons School of Design in New York City with a degree in Interior Design. She is an Allied member of the American Society of Interior Design (ASID), a member of the Better Business Bureau, Former Vice President of Business Network International, and a Member Toastmasters International.
She has been featured most recently in The Star-Ledger “Ask The Designer - Trends for 2008”, January 2008, The Princeton Packet Magazine “Slam Dunk”, February 2008, The Sun News “Designer Shares Tips on Going Green”, August 2008, The Village Voice “Tips from Jacqueline West”, October 2008, The Village Voice “How to Maintain a Green Apartment”, October 2008, The Star-Ledger "Designers Favorite Things", October 2009 to name a few.
